About Asanga

Asanga Gunathilaka is a Gem Cutter who talented from self studies and living in Sri Lanka.He spent 2 years in International Business Studies in Canada and after he went to Australia for his further studies to complete his degree.

 

While he was in Australia followed gemology in Gemological Association Australia (G.A.A).Then he decided to market Ceylon Sapphires in Australian Gem and Jewelry Fairs. Unfortunately the product wasn't succeed in Australian market.

 

He began to find the reasons for the product failure. Asanga found that the quality of Sri Lankan gem cutting was the reason. He seems for fine gem cutters in Sri Lanka to avoid cutting default. But Nobody Show Up according to his standards. So options are minimized. He stated to learn gem cutting by his own with help of his friend master gem cutter, gem cutting machine manufacturer  called Siegfried Herzog.Then Journey was begun.

 

Through his experiments he found out techniques to upgrade the cutting quality and standards and found new cutting designs.Today,these designs were used jewelry designers inItaly,Australia and U.A.E to manufacture gorgeous jewelery pieces.        

 

He awarded  Sapphire award from three consecutive times by Gemologists Association Of Sri Lanka at jewels competition  in years of 2011, 2012 and 2013  under beautiful lapidary art category.
